This week, we’re visiting the lake within a volcano within a lake. And get this: on the inner lake, there’s another island. Not sure if it’s volcanic, but maybe this Wikipedia page of Taal Volcano will tell you.
Maybe after New Year’s we’ll get to go to the beach. We were supposed to earlier than that but my mom isn’t feeling good. Cross your fingers!

it’s 29 °C right now
I don’t know what that means. But it’s humid so I feel like I’m wearing pants and a sweater, even thought I’m in just shorts and a tshirt.

my thoughts immediately after we got to the bed and breakfast
We’re in the Philippines now. All I can think about is how bad traffic is and that my feet stink. A guy named Mark, who was sent by my dad’s friend who works at the airport, to help us find our way around. He also helped us with our luggage, so that was super nice. Ate Grace, her sisters Nenet and Joy, and her husband Mervin came and picked us up.
The drive to the bed and breakfast wasn’t bad—maybe an hour? My mom came and greeted us then we unloaded everything. I was treated to a 2am snack of squidballs, ube, Hello Panda, egg pie, and bananas. Yeah, I ate all that. After 4 straight meals on the plane. I guess they were kind of small meals though so…
One awesome thing is that we have ESPN and Fox, so right now I’m watching the Boise St. game. Also there’s wifi, so I should be able to upload my personal statement by the morning. There’s also a bunch of anime channels that Jeric got excited about, but they’re in Tagalog with Chinese subs so I don’t know how much of it he understands.
Right now there’s roosters crowing, and earlier there was a cat meowing outside. Haha! You have to shower with a water heater, but at least there’s hot water. I probably wouldn’t have minded even a cold shower. Anything to clean myself. Also there was a bell ringing outside at 4am. Apparently the 9 days before Christmas, they have early morning church services. I guess they’re pretty hardcore about Jesus.

Made it safe to the Philippines. Us at the bed and breakfast’s canteen.

We’re super excited—air conditioning!

We made it to the airport in Nagoya, Japan! So I still can’t snap photos on Tumblr because my computer hates me. But at least I managed to get wifi! Here’s a picture. I guessed on every option.

I’m blogging from 10,000 feet in the air!
I actually don’t know how high up I am. But my first flight has free wi-fi, so why not use it, right? Everybody else is sleeping, but I’m not gonna lie, I’m too excited to sleep even though I’m super tired. I haven’t been on a plane in 7 years! My little brother flies to college so he knows what he’s doing, and my dad’s flown a million times so he does too. I’m the n00b.
When the plane took off, I was a little scared. I thought about my girlfriend, and my church, and my family, and how I didn’t have to apply to grad school anymore if the plane went down (haha). But when we were up in the air, I looked out the window, and it was just so beautiful. It was still dark at 6am so the lights from all the buildings and cars were really the only things I could see. And that made everything okay.
